Erin Go Bragh

May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live

May your neighbors respect you

troubles neglect you

the angels protect you

and heaven accept you.

May your home always be too small to hold all your friends

*    *    *    *    *

May you be in Heaven an hour

Before the Devil knows you’re dead

  1. One that I grew up with stitched in a sampler:

    May the road rise up to meet you,
    May the sun always be at your back,
    May the rain fall soft upon your field,
    and until we meet again,
    May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

    It was “an olde Irish blessing” (which I never understood since we’re German and Scots- lol!)
